The Inlaws visit was really nice, tiring, but good.

New Year’s Resolutions: Getting healthy and get employed again is really my one big goal, but it’s not entirely up to me and my efforts, and I don’t know how to plan that out. And I miss that feeling of having the plan, of starting a new program and booyah taking charge.

I have a bunch of birthday and Xmas gift knitting projects for the year. Chris update: 11 hours of sleep/night = the goodness. I’m up to reading comic books and manga, but a recent book reading attempt just left me struggling and not enjoying it. Less than 10h still not leaves me less functional than that and headachy all day. I caught up on the cleaning backlog. My container garden grows lettuce really well . So some improvements are definitely happening, and I haven’t reached the bored point yet.

BGSU Monitor, an online weekly newsletter reports that a Child-free by Choice support group is forming, The initial meeting will be held at 5:15 p.m. Nov. 20 in the Women’s Center, 108 Hanna Hall. The group will begin regular meetings in the spring and is seeking input and planning help. “Child free” refers to anyone, regardless of sexual orientation or gender, who chooses not to have children. The group will provide a supportive environment for discussions of individual life choices, reproductive freedoms and struggles associated with being child-free. If I haven’t responded to an email from you, I’m still catching up. Then I spent another evening backing up machines and installing new sound software. Today I check over the file, and there are sound gaps in it where I see waveforms on the screen but no sound comes out. So what you are hearing is the 2nd complete re-edit of the 2nd recording. The irony that this is episode 39, 13 times 3, does not escape me. Now, onto the show, whose 2nd re-edit was originally going to go out on Wednesday Feb 21st. *sigh*

I’m likely to get better and stay that way with the new asthma meds the lung doc has me taking, and my other doc ordered a few tests to find out why I’ve been so tired for the last few months. And when I got home, I got another interview recorded for you guys.

Then a Tamiflu side effects alert, the Women’s Barrier Method Review (based on the Narrigan paper), and the Ortho Evra package insert update from the FDA website. Every method has a failure rate (even surgical methods, although they’re very small), and I urge everybody out there to investigate their package inserts and talk to their docs if they’re concerned about their method.

Also, recovery wishes to Jerry S., the founding non-father of No Kidding!, whose car rolled recently in the Canadian snow. Apparently, he’s functional but quite banged up at the moment. Again, if you kinda know Jerry or are simply an NK member, send him a note that he is appreciated and (we hope) feeling better.

This week we bypass the news to recap my Utah experience, including the camel ride. Also, we get a head start on next show’s topic- employee benefits and the childfree. I’ll have a researcher interview next time, in about 10-12 days. My in-laws are in town, and I want to spend as much time with these very cool people as possible. There will be another show out before Christmas with news items, the interview, and who knows what else!

I’m spending the long Christmas weekend in Las Vegas, mainly to see Cirque du Soleil shows and Penn & Teller. Anybody with recommendations for eats, sights, or anything, please send me a comment, email, or voicemail. Thanks.

This week I report some new research on decreasing side effects of a potential male hormonal contraceptive, DC housing and assumptions about community vitality/stability, and a new internal standard I’m going to try. Why are certain now-unacceptable assumption for one minority group still ok to apply to us?

The Happy Stuff includes eating again (I’ve been ill) and a compilation of Castle Waiting. Minor bibliophile-gasm over the sensual happiness of a nicely designed book.

Episode 26 is up! Yes, the PC-induced radio silence is broken, thanks largely to the very helpful Jack Mangan of the Deadpan Podcast . Jack, I owe you one.

This week we cover 3 news items, a goal review, Happy Things, and a Happier-than-happy Thing.

My computer is now cleaned and debugged, but a few more days of program re-installing will be necessary before it’s fully operational again. Still, TASCF should be back to its usual quasi-weekly schedule. I have enough pre-planned and written that the schedule should follow the 7-day earth week for the foreseeable future.

Toward the end of the week, I’ll repost the promo that Michael Mennenga of all the Draco Vista productions (www.michaelandevo.com) kindly overhauled for me. Thanks, Mike! If you ever do a sound-editing 101, sign me up!

Artisan-level chocolate permeating the air, artisan-level chocolate as an ingredient to chapstick, artisan-level chocolate in the gift shop afterwards, and yes, artisan-level chocolate in my tummy. I like really good chocolate. Can you tell?
